Objective To translate and cross-culturally adapt the Patient-reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) Instrumental Support short form into Chinese version,to test its reliability and validity in patients with liver cancer, and to provide a high-quality assessment tool to assess the substantial social support received by patients.Methods Based on the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy（FACIT） translation method, the short form was translated and culturally adapted through the forward translation, back translation,cognitive interview, and pre-survey.Evaluation of content effectiveness was conducted through expert consultations.We used convenience sampling method to recruit 383 liver cancer patients in a tertiary hospital for psychometric proprieties analysis.Results Exploratory factor analysis resulted in a 1-factor structure, explaining 78.453% of the total variation; confirmatory factor analysis results showed that the model fitted well after modification.The scale-level content validity index of the scale was 0.960, and the item-level content validity indexes were between 0.890-1.000.The overall Cronbach′s α coefficient of the scale was 0.949.The scale had measurement invariance across age and gender groups.Conclusion The Chinese version of PROMIS instrumental support short form had good reliability and validity and was suitable as an assessment tool for instrumental support in patients with liver cancer under the Chinese cultural background.
