Abstract:Objective To explore the impact of case management model on self-management efficacy and complications in patients with thyroid associated ophthalmopathy, and to promote patients′ recovery. Methods A total of 282 patients with thyroid associated ophthalmopathy were divided into a control group (n=136) and an observation group (n=146) according to admission time. The control group received routine ophthalmologic care, while the observation group received the case management model in addition to routine care.Self-management efficacy and the incidence of complications were compared between the two groups before and 1, 3 months after the intervention. Results After 3 months of intervention, the self-management efficacy score of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group, and the incidence of incision infection and exposure keratitis was significantly lower than that of the control group (all P<0.05).Conclusion The application of the case management model can enhance the self-management efficacy of patients with thyroid associated ophthalmopathy and reduce the incidence of complications.
