Abstract:Objective To investigate the current status of sleep-related worry among shift nurses, and analyze its influencing factors, so as to provide a reference for developing targeted intervention. Methods A total of 368 shift nurses were investigated by utilizing a general information questionnaire, the Anxiety and Preoccupation about Sleep Questionnaire (APSQ), the Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS), the Self-regulatory Fatigue Scale (SRF-S), and the Rumination Response Scale (RRS).Results The total APSQ score of the shift nurses was 40.00(33.00,44.75), and the two subscale scores of worry about the consequences of poor sleep quality and worry about uncontrollable sleep were 24.00(21.00,28.00) and 16.00(12.00,17.75), respectively.Regression analysis showed that, health condition, the AIS score, the SRF-S score, and the RRS score were the main factors influencing shift nurses′ sleep-related worry (all P<0.05).Conclusion The sleep-related worry among shift nurses is serious, which can be reduced by alleviating their insomnia symptoms and decreasing their levels of self-regulatory fatigue and rumination.
