Abstract:Objective To study the relationship between authentic leadership of head nurses, and psychological ownership and voice behavior of nurses, and to provide reference for enhancement of nursing managerial efficiency. Methods Totally, 442 clinical nurses from 3 tertiary hospitals were selected by convenience sampling method. The questionnaires included a demographic questionnaire, the Authentic Leadership Questionnaire (ALQ), the Psychological Ownership Questionnaire, and the Voice Behavior Scale. Results The nurses averagely rated their head nurses′ authentic leadership at (4.48±0.47) points; they scored (4.85±0.68) points, and (3.52±0.25) points respectively in psychological ownership, and voice behavior. The 3 variables were positively correlated with each other (P<0.01 for all). Psychological ownership played a mediating role between authentic leadership and voice behavior. Conclusion Authentic leadership of the head nurse has a positive influence on nurses′ voice behavior. At the same time, psychological ownership plays an intermediary role between authentic lea-dership and voice behavior. Therefore, improving psychological ownership of nurse can boost their voice behavior, thus enhancing the quality of nursing service.
