Abstract:Objective To develop a nursing-sensitive quality indicator system for venous thromboembolism (VTE) prevention, and to provide reference for quality evaluation and monitoring of nursing care in VTE prevention. Methods Using the "Structure-Process-Outcome" model as theoretical framework and based on the JBI model of evidence-based healthcare, we discussed and selected indicators and developed the draft, then successive rounds of Delphi surveys were conducted to determine the nursing-sensitive quality indicator system. At last, weight of each indicator was calculated. Results The indicator system included 3 first-level indicators, 6 second-level indicators, and 22 third-level indicators. The response rate of questionnaire was 84.85% in round 1 and 96.43% in round 2. The expert authority coefficients were 0.863 and 0.869 respectively, and the Kendall′s W coordination coefficients were 0.099-0.163 in round 1 and 0.096-0.135 in round 2. Conclusion The nursing-sensitive quality indicator system, with reasonable weight of each indicator, is scientific and reliable, which may provide a theoretical basis for continuous improvement of VTE prevention in clinical practice.
