Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of a conversation card game workshop in death education for oncology nurses, and to provide reference for death education. Methods Totally, 185 oncology nurses were invited to participate in a workshop that participants played a conversation card game about end-of-life issues. At pre workshop, death attitude of nurses was investigated by using the Chinese version of Death Attitude Profile-Revised (DAP-R) and the effect was evaluated at post workshop. Results Twenty-three game sessions were conducted. The subscale scores of fear of death, natural acceptance and escape acceptance of the DAP-R had significant differences at pre and post workshop (P<0.05,P<0.01). Greater than ninety percent (90.27%) of the nurses thought that the workshop could improve their ability of death education, 84.86% were willing to popularize the conversation card game about end-of-life issues, and 81.08% of them would try to talk about death with patients. Conclusion The conversation card game workshop is helpful to guide nurses to think about death and value of life, which is an effective method for death education.
