Objective To meta-synthesize the experience of maternal near miss among severe obstetric complication survivors and their spouses. Methods Through computer search, the researchers retrieved papers of domestic and foreign qualitative researches on the emotional and care experience of maternal near miss among severe obstetric complication survivors and their spouses.Then meta-synthesis method was used to collate and analyze the data. Results A total of thirteen papers were retrieved and three synthesized results were summarized：obstetric complication has negative impact on physiological, psychological and social aspects of women and their spouse,and for many years; with external support and self-adaptation, the study population achieved growth, and were grateful for help; there were problems lying in medical service and the study population were in need for care. Conclusion Obstetric complications have adverse effects on survivors and their families.Medical staff should pay attention to the psychological health of the severe obstetric complication survivors and their spouses, take measures to meet their needs of psychological health during perinatal stage, and improve the quality of care for severely ill obstetric patients.
